TK park joins hands with Thai Army Wives Association to launch “Living Library in Army Camp”
Mr. Rames Promyen, director of Thailand Knowledge Park (TK park), has recently signed an MOU with Mrs. Benjawan Sitthisad, president of Thai Army Wives Association, to establish “Living Library in Army Camp” in order to develop learning resources in the concept of the living library for army camps around Thailand.
Mr. Rames Promyen, TK park’s director said that TK park has joined hands with the agencies of the Royal Thai Army to develop two learning centers namely Learning Park of 2nd Army Area’s Educational Center (SR Park) in Suranary Army Camp, Nakorn Ratchasima, and Wisdom Creation Center (WCC) in 101st Signal Battalion, 1st Signal Brigade, Kamphaengphet Akhara Yothin Military Camp, Samutsakorn. Both learning centers has been enthusiastically welcomed by the military members, their families and the general public and become models for living library in army camps for other army camps nationwide.
Under the MOU, TK park will transfer knowledge as well as provide advice and consultancy for Thai Army Wives Association in order to develop army camp’s learning centers in the living library concept. Supports from TK park will include books and learning media, helps and consultancy on information technology, human resources and supports on learning and public relations activities, all of which designed to match the demands of each army camp’s area to assure that it will bring the utmost benefits to the local people and generate sustainability to each learning center.
Mrs. Benjawan Sitthisad, president of Thai Army Wives Association, revealed that the association has been operating the two learning centers with aims to provide learning sources for military members and their families to seek up-to-date knowledges and information, create learning spaces and activities to promote reading and learning habits, optimize the use of their free time as well as strengthen the relationship within their family and community.
The collaboration has purposes on improving and developing the existing learning centers in army camps using the living library concept. This will create a colorful and friendly-learning atmosphere that will attract and promote the learning needs of the target groups. With the supports from TK park, the main organisation pioneering the living library concept, which include its branch network, knowledge and experience in organizing learning and reading activities, and resources of modern learning tools and media; it is hoped that the collaboration will lead to the establishment of modern learning centers in army camps nationwide. This will help to provide knowledge and wisdom sources for military members as well as strengthen their family and community ties which are the fundamentals of establishing strong organisations and society in the future.
