TK park and Hai Yai Municipality organise the hands-on workshop “New Role of Living Library and Librarians in the Digital Era” in Songkhla’s Hat Yai district for school teachers, librarians, library staff, education personnel in the southern provinces. Rames Promyen, Vice President of the Office of Knowledge Management and Development and Acting Director-General of TK park, and Samrit Boonrat, deputy mayor of Hat Yai Municipality presided over the opening of the two-day workshop on March 19-20 and addressed participants from across Songkhla as well as those from Phu Ket, Krabi, Satun, Yala, Pattani and Narathiwat
The initiative equips the library professionals with requisite skills needed for managing a modern library more effectively, especially with regard to digital learning. It features talks by Luarat Anuratpanich, assistant dean for human resource, Mahidol University’s Faculty of Phamacy, and Boonlert Arunpiboon, deputy director of Science and Technology Knowledge Services (STKS) under the Ministry of Science and Technology. Mr Luarat speaks on the topic of “How to Manage a Library for Different Generations”, while Mr Boonlert talks about “Things You Must Know about Copyright in the Digital Age”. Participants also learn about how TK park has developed its “TK Public Online Library”, the largest and most modern online public library in Thailand. The library has more than 7,000 e-books, audiobooks and streaming videos available in four digital catalogues including TK Online Library, 2ebook, Overdrive and Press Reader. TK park will continue to organise workshops for people working at its network public libraries and learning centers throughout 2016 to ensure that they meet the changing needs and expectations of library users in the digital age.
