Synopsis: After the grand success of our Nigerian film last year, we are proud to screen another film from a country whose ‘Nollywood’ film industry ranks among the top three in the world.
Lionheart, starring one the most famous actresses of the country, centers around the daughter of a businessman trying to manage her father’s transport-business, when he suddenly falls ill. She faces many ups and downs, especially from the men in the industry. There is also the generational conflict between her and her seniors. The film is an inspiring tale of a strong Nigerian woman, who faces all crises with equanimity, even though she has many self-doubts herself. It’s truly a tribute to African womanhood.
In fact, one of the highlights of the film is that the lead-actress also directs the film.
Another highlight is that the film offers a view of Nigeria’s diverse languages, cultures, lifestyles. There’s also a marvelous ensemble cast of top Nigerian film artists.
The movie created waves at the prestigious Toronto International Film Festival and was the country’s nomination for the Oscars.
